“Klaipėdos kartonas” is one of the oldest company in Lithuania, and its history is closely conerned in the business history of Lithuania. This is a company, which has passed through two world wars, more than one crisis, and still, it exists. JSC „Grigiškės“ bought “Klaipėdos kartonas” in the beginning of  2010. The company was obtained solving the strategic objectives of the „Grigiškės“ company, i.e. wanting to create an integrated structure of the package production. We obtained the company „Klaipėdos kartonas“ together with a corrugated cardboard company, „Mena Pak“ in Ukraine, which is managed by „Klaipėdos kartonas“. Thus, at this moment in the structure of package production „Grigiškės Group“ there is one company of paper production and two companies of corrugated cardboard production.

Like many others companies, „Klaipėdos kartonas“ painfully survived the crisis of 2009, when the volumes of production and sales has drastically dicreased. However, the company has found the inner strength, and from the beginning of the year of 2010 it works at a full capacity. The future strategic objectives intend to make the paper production in the company „Klaipėdos kartonas“ more effective, and to increase the production capacity up to 120 thousand tons per year, to reduce the input of energy as well as to expand paper honeycomb production by installing one more production machine.

In the near future it is intended to increase the production of the corurgated cardboard up to 35 mln.m2/per year in the company Mena Pak (Ukraine).

The history of Klaipedos kartonas SC traces back to 1898. The company bears its present name since 1994, when it was privatized. The company expands its business year by year, and occupies a leading position in the paper industry of the Baltic region.

Klaipedos kartonas SC is the bigest company of this type in the region, with a long-term continual business strategy. The company produces raw materials for production of carrugated board - Testliner and Fluting. Beside the main activity, Klaipedos kartonas SC also produces paper honeycomb. 
 

The company is located in the territory of Klaipeda seaport, near the Curonian Lagoon. The company's operation is closely related to ecology. All production is manufactured from waste paper. Trees - a very important element of ecosystem - are preserved in this way, and waste paper collested in Lithuania and neighbour contries is processed.

Klaipedos kartonas SC processes 115 000 tons of waste paper a year. Each ton of processed waste paper saves 15 trees, 30 cubic meters of water, and 500 kg of oil. Thus, Klaipedos kartonas SC saves about 1.5 million trees, 3 million cubic metes of water and 50 thousand tons of oil every year by processing waste paper.
